CBC launches free online music streaming site
TORONTO - The CBC has launched a new free online music service with streaming access to dozens of genre-themed stations.
Along with links to stream CBC's Radio 2 and Radio 3 stations, web surfers can select from a range of music channels to listen to, including "Complete Cohen," several subgenres of classical, jazz, rock, pop and country music, and blues, R&B, hip hop, aboriginal, and electronic playlists.
CBC Music also offers a limited selection of albums available to listen to on demand, including Canadian acts Arcade Fire, Austra, Bahamas, Islands and Plants and Animals.
There is also a collection of more than 500 live performances available to stream.
The music service is available on the web and in app format for Apple's iPhones and iPads.
